INSPIRATION
My inspiration mostly came from lollies and chocolate and other confectionary. When I was researching all of these brands and types of lollies I couldn’t help but notice how bright they all are and also how bold the texts are so that there is no possible way for you to confuse one type with another.
In getting inspiration for my blog from these lollies and chocolates I researched their histories and found it surprising that many of these lollies and chocolates packaging have never been redesigned and when and if they have been they have kept the same colours and images and only really upgraded the fonts so that the products are still recognizable but a bit more modern now. I thought about this for the SUGA logo while designing it by trying to keep the same colours or similar ones.
I also drew inspiration from “The Red Balloon” confectionary store. I really like there use of colour and there simple layout in there website.
Another website I drew inspiration from is the “SUGA” website. I found when looking at this website I was picking up the things I really didn’t like and wanted to change and the things I would keep if I was redesigning this website. I liked the use of the bright colours and that all the text was kept on one side.
Another website I drew inspiration from was the “Cadbury’s” website and there bright bold use of colour but also minimizing it to only using 2 predominant colours.
This is some of my inspiration
BLOG LAYOUT
The layout of my blog is very simple and easy to read so that readers don’t get confused of where they are or lost when they’re trying to find something.
The Posts will all be aligned one on top of each other so you can always read right from the start of the project until the most recent blog of where I’m up to at the moment.
I drew inspirations to form a simple blog/website such as this from other websites such as Cadburys. Cadburys website has everything lined up in a grid almost so that it is easy to find and layed out to be easy to look at.
COLOUR SCHEME
Colour- The colour scheme of my visual design elements will include bright bold colours for the rock candy and lollies and also logo but more suttle colours but still bright and bold colours for the background so that the lollies and candy and also the logo stand out to be bright fun objects that will draw you in to see more.
Imagery- The imagery used for the graphics of the company 'SUGA' will be photographs of the rock candy and lollies that are and will be produced in the store, showing you what the products are and how they are produced.
Graphics/ Typography- The graphics and typography that will be used in the new logo and merchandise for 'SUGA' will be quite happy graphics that make you smile and laugh about their humor and quirkiness and draw you in because of their colour.
LOGO/FONT
CHANGES-
The changes I'm planning on making to the company "SUGA" is to primarily redesign their logo.
The font I have chosen to use is called “CHUNKY”. It is a Sans Serif font as it doesn’t have the small features coming off each letter. It is a much more modern form of fonts in the way that it not only doesn’t have the little features coming off each letter but it is also a bubble letter font.
I choose to use this type of font as I wanted the logo and lettering to look like lollipops. So I drew my inspiration from lollipops and also pop art fonts.
Once I drew the type of logo I wanted it made it much easier to choose a font and once I choose the “CHUNKY” font I only had to add the lollipop sticks and a bit of colour.

HISTORY OF SUGA
The History of the store "SUGA" is…
Suga was established in 1998 with the help of Master Danish confectioner Nils Nilsson who has over 40 years experience working his craft. Their first store opened in the historic Royal Arcade and quickly established a following of loyal and passionate customers of all ages.
Suga believe the connection was built on an appreciation for their fanciful and fun environment and also the age old qualities of hard work and attention to detail that accompanies such a traditional craft. Suga’s customers get to experience the process of candy making from the combining of ingredients right through to tasting the end result, fresh and warm from the cooling table.
Since then the company has become a memorable part of the patchwork fabric of Melbourne, Australia reflecting many of the special qualities that are associated with the city. Suga has four outlets across Melbourne to meet the demand for their special lollies. Suga has received international recognition in media and travel stories that profile Melbourne and has been featured in The Age Good Food Guide.
One of the stores proudest achievements was winning The Melbourne Award in 2006 for being an exceptional role model for retail innovation in the City of Melbourne, Australia.

DESIGN BRIEF
PROFILE
I plan to reestablish the identity for the lolly store 'SUGA'. The lolly store will still remain as a small business with only 4 stores opened through out Victoria, those being in Chadstone, the Queen Victoria Market, the Royal Arcade Melbourne and also the most recent store to open which is in Southgate. The stores primary and only product will be hand made rock candy, which has been made in the stores for 12 years now. The candy makers will still make the rock candy in front of the customers showing them the process of making candy right from miking ingrediants to taste testing the freshly made candy while its still warm.
The niche market for 'SUGA' will be very much the same as other lolly and candy stores offering sweet snacks to both children and adults but also adding the elements of being able to watch your lollies being made for you before you buy them, having personalised messages written into your lillies, buying ready made rock candy that is also made fresh that morning, and also offering coporate, wedding and birthday presents and gifts made to your preference.
AIMS
The items I redesign for the company 'SUGA' will be aiming to remake and promote the business as a new restored business. This will hopefully gererate more sales by bringing new clients and customers into the stores and encourage more enquiries from companies outside the business which would like to no more about the company and its products.
I will be aiming to design a new logo for the company 'SUGA' which will be displayed on their new business cards, material/ paper shopping bags for their products to be placed in when sold and also posters and monthly newsletters.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The company 'SUGA' will appeal to all ages but will be primarily targeting children and young teens who especially like lollies and candy and all things made from sugar, but will also be targeting parents because of 'SUGA's' use of natural colours and flavours making there sweets much healithier and fresher than other brands. 'SUGA' will also be targeting large business' as it will continue making corporate rock candy which can show both a logo of a company and/ or a slogan in the candy. Other target audiences for the store may include people getting married as 'SUGA' can make there lollies into a form of a thank-you for attending the wedding.
VISUAL INFLUENCES
Colour- The colour scheme of my visual design elements will include bright bold colours for the rock candy and lollies and also logo but more suttle pale colours for the backgrounds so that the lollies and candy and also the logo stand out to be bright fun objects that will draw you in to see more.
Imagery- The imagery used for the graphics of the company 'SUGA' will be photographs of the rock candy and lollies that are and will be produced in the store, showing you what the products are and how they are produced.
Graphics/ Typography- The graphics and typography that will be used in the new logo and mechandise for 'SUGA' will be quite happy graphics that make you smile and laugh about their humour and quickiness.
